The whitespace cleaner is the unglamorous one that fixes real bugs. Trailing spaces, mixed tabs, non-breaking spaces pasted from a document, and Windows line endings in a Unix file all break things quietly — a shell script with CRLF endings fails with an error message that mentions none of this. All of it runs in the page, so pasting a block of production log text sends it nowhere.
